Kcast Gold Live!+ is a free iPhone app that is an excellent way for investors in gold and other precious metals to keep tabs on their favorite markets. KCast is published by Kitco, a well known precious metals dealer. The app has been around for a while but a recent redesign has prodded us to write a quick summary of the app's features.
The new app has three main tabs: home, markets and news.
Home
The home tab shows up to date prices for gold, silver, platinum, palladium, rhodium, copper, crude oil, the DJIA and USD index:
Selecting any of these commodities or indexes brings up a chart, which can be viewed for time periods of 1d, 3d, 30d, 60d, 6m, 1y, 5y and 10y. Here is a 24 hour chart for gold:
Turning the iPhone horizontally loads a much larger view of charts. Here is a full sized one year silver chart:
Markets
The markets tab contains prices for the London fix futures market, mining stocks, currencies and technical charts. Here is a view of some of the major currency prices:
The technical charts feature the 14 and 200 day moving averages and are available in 1y, 2y, 5y, 8y and 10y time frames. Here is a two year gold chart in horizontal mode:
News
The news tab features precious metals related articles published by Kitco, The Street, MarketWatch, Reuters and more. Here is a view of recent headlines:
